Installation Guide

Get TK-mac running on your system in under two minutes. Follow these simple steps to install and configure the necessary permissions.

1

Download and Open the Installer

Download the latest version of TK-mac from our homepage. Once the download is complete, locate the TK-mac-Installer.dmg file in your Downloads folder and double-click it to mount the disk image.

2

Move to Applications

A window will appear showing the TK-mac icon and your Applications folder. Simply drag and drop the TK-mac app icon into the Applications folder icon next to it.

Note: Do not run the app directly from the DMG file. It must be copied to your Applications folder to work correctly and save your preferences.

3

First Launch & Security Prompt

Open your Applications folder (or Launchpad) and double-click TK-mac. Because TK-mac is downloaded from the internet, macOS Gatekeeper will ask if you are sure you want to open it.

Click "Open". (TK-mac is fully notarized and code-signed by Apple for your security).

4

Enable System Processes

To accurately monitor deep system processes and resource usage, you need to allow the background monitoring service to run. This is a one-time setup process.

  • When you click "Enable System Processes" within TK-mac, a macOS Login Items / Background Tasks popup will appear.
  • Toggle the switch to Allow TK-mac to run its background service.
  • You will be prompted to provide your Mac's administrator password (or use Touch ID) to authenticate and apply this change.
  • Important: Return to the TK-mac app and click "Enable System Processes" twice to complete the activation.

Security Note: This authentication is required by macOS to safely read system-level tasks. TK-mac operates locally and never transmits your system data. A securely hashed device ID is used exclusively for registering your 7-day free trial.

Troubleshooting

If TK-mac's system processes aren't monitoring correctly, or if you accidentally dismissed the "Background Tasks" permission prompt, follow these steps to reset the system's background task manager.

1

Open Terminal

You need to use a terminal command to reset macOS's background permissions database.

Press Cmd (⌘) + Space to open Spotlight Search, type Terminal, and press Enter to open the app.

2

Run the Reset Command

Copy and paste the following command into your Terminal window and press Enter:

sudo sfltool resetbtm

Note: You will be asked to enter your Mac's administrator password. For security, the terminal will not show any characters while you type. Just type your password and press Enter.

3

Restart Your Mac

For the database reset to take effect, your Mac must be restarted. You can restart it normally from the Apple menu (Restart...), or simply run this command in your terminal:

sudo reboot
4

Relaunch TK-mac

Once your Mac boots back up, open TK-mac and try the activation process again.

  • Click "Enable System Processes" within TK-mac.
  • When the macOS Login Items popup appears, make sure to toggle the switch to Allow.
  • Important: Return to the TK-mac app and click "Enable System Processes" twice to finalize the activation.
